WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF TAKING TINCTURES?

Tinctures are meant to be taken sublingually and are widely considered the most efficient way to get cannabinoids into the blood stream. Taking cannabis oil under the tongue ensures the product will enter the bloodstream without incurring any potential molecular changes that can occur within the stomach. Stomach acids have the possibility of converting cannabinoids and have been known to create unwanted psychoactive side effects. This is not possible when taken sublingually.

A con of taking cannabis oil orally would be a possible undesirable cannabis taste (almost everyone we know agrees it is an acquired taste that the body seems to become naturally attracted to over time). Another con could be the length of time between consumption and the initial feeling of its affects. This has resulted in many reports of people having undesirable results due to over consumption, particularly from THC. In extreme cases, possible side effects include vomiting or hallucination. One of the beautiful aspects of cannabis is it is not possible to overdose, making it one of the safest medicinal products available.
